This letterbox is located on the Sandy Creek trail.
From Franklin head out of town on Rt. 8 South. At the first light, turn left onto Pone Lane. Follow Pone Lane to the end. At the stop sign turn right onto Bel-mar Rd. Follow bel-mar to the parking lot for the trails.
Get on the trail and enjoy the view of the Allegheny River from the Bel-Mar bridge. The bridge is 1061 feet long. At the end of the bridge follow the trail straight ahead. The trail will eventually have a dramatic dip that also has a road crossing it. At the crossroads look to your right at 2 o'clock. See the big rocks. Go stand on one. Look ahead. See the ruins of an old stone foundation. Go stand in the ruin. Look for the window. Go around the outside and look in the window to the inside of the foundation. Just to the left of the window is a fallen foundation stone. Look deep underneath and find shrek among the remains of his shack.
Very family friendly box.
