From Shepherdstown: At the intersection of Rts. 45, 480 and 230 take 480N towards Sharpsburg. Just past the college football field (.4 miles), turn left on the Shepherd Grade Road. Drive 1.7 miles to the stop sign and turn left onto Scrabble Road. Stay on Scrabble Road for 2.4 miles (the road turns left at 1.9 miles). In the town of Scrabble (before you get to the Yankauer Nature Preserve turn off) turn right at the "Public Stream Access" sign. Continue on going thru the Jones Mill Historic District. Keep going until you reach the parking lot down by the river.
From the parking lot to the dam (not the boat ramp) take the road best traveled up the hill to the left. Then take the road least traveled to the right. If you go too far you will have a shocking experience. The least traveled road becomes grassy and then you enter a flat concrete area. Find the stairs to the old house and climb them. At the corner base of the old house just at the top of the stairs look under the cinder block for the box you seek. You can continue on thru the field to look out over the river and
the dam below. Look out for ticks in the high grass.
Please email twograysquirrels2000@yahoo.com if the box is missing, etc.
