At the most northern corner of Whiskey Pete’s Casino look for the dirt road heading up hill. About ½ way up the hill look to your left for a rock outcropping. The front of this rock outcrop has a large rock in front of a large hole. Walk up above the hole and you will find the letterbox just below the top part of the outcrop covered with some movable rocks. From the box location you will see an Indian headdress at 80 degrees and Pete’s top cone at 190 degrees. You have gone too far if you can see the water tanks.

NOTE: We received the following info on 11/24/2008.

"The After Image". It is still there but the access to it has changed a little. They are using the area to dump very high hills of dirt, sand? (were you meant to walk around and on top of the hills and then down to the rocks?) As you look up the hill from the parking lot, you are able to spot the outcrop of rocks. Then you hike up the side of the mountain to get to the rocks. Just a little more of a challenge!

Then we received this info on 9/21/2009.
A new easier way to locate would be to tell others to go to the far north corner of the parking lot (there's a metal building there now) Look up the hill to the west to see a cut off pipe sticking straight up about 1-2 ft. tall. From there, look to the NW and climb to the rock outcrop and then follow the other directions you've given.

Once you find the letterbox we suggest that you use black ink and after stamping in stare at the 4 very small dots in the middle of the image for 30 seconds. After this period of time close your eyes and tilt your head back slightly and the “after” image should appear. If it does not appear try it again and stare a little more intently.

The “after” image is a good one to bring with you when visiting sin city.

When researching our clues please be aware that when previous searchers list “ATTEMPTED” on the clue sheets it may reflect more on their abilities as finders than indicate whether the box is viable or not. We do monitor our clues and boxes pretty well and appreciate the notes written to us by those that find or attempt our letterboxes.

Please contact placer directly or through the LBNA chat list regarding status rather than unofficial databases. Up to date status can only be ascertained from placer as other information services will not have current data. The placer does not appreciate listing information about this letterbox on unauthorized information services.
