This letterbox was reported as missing...however, it is still there as of December 1, 2010. The snails however, are missing.

Terrain: pavement and woodchips
Distance: less then 1/2 mile round trip
Location: The Chicago Antheum International Sculpture Park located in Schaumburg, Illinois

A new log book was added on September 16, 2006.

Caution: this area can be very crowded with people at various times of the year.

I would suggest bringing a camera as many photo opportunities await.

Suggested Parking:
Spring Valley Nature Center Parking lot located on Plum Grove Road about 1/4 mile south of Schaumburg Road. Or park in the church parking lot.

The trailhead is slightly north of the church.

Begin heading west on the trail through the sculpture park...making sure to take time to enjoy all the artwork created by these international artists.

Enjoy the abundance of nature nearby as well...today, when I placed the letterbox I saw a red-tailed hawk.

Soon you will come across a sculpture that is similar to Stonehenge. It is called Vinland made in 1999 from Norway. It contains several large stone structures erected in a large oval.

Sit on the nearby bench...relax and enjoy the view...especially the one in front of you. If you look carefully you will notice a small path leading into the woods. Head towards it...but don't take it...instead look to the right and during the winter months you will notice a large partially down tree trunk...head in towards it...and dig carefully through the muck...your treasure awaits.

Be careful as many people may be in this area.

After carefully returning the letterbox to its location, I hope you spend some time walking along the wood land trail. The trail is only about 1/4 mile in length.

After you finish up enjoying the Art in the Park letterbox search, I recommend you head over to Spring Valley Nature Center where you parked your car and Look for the Squirreling Around letterbox.

Have fun!
