I NEED TO REPLACE THE STAMP IN PART II. I WILL TRY TO GET THAT DONE SOON.

These are two Hybrid Geocache/Letterboxes hidden with a special purpose.

Diamond Hill is a beautiful park, but after taking my dog Bruschi for a hike last weekend I was disgusted by the way it has been treated. The trails close to the park area have been literally trashed. I'm not pointing fingers. Coffee drinkers, soda drinkers, water drinkers, sledding participants, haunted hill goers, they've all left their mark. I just wanted to do something about it and I believe I've found a fun and interesting way to do it.

I've hidden two medium size popcorn containers filled with goodies and of course a stamp and log book. After you stamp the log book you can take something from the can but, for those of you not familiar with geocaching, you must leave something as well. I've started them off with some pretty decent "treasures". I've included CDs, a dog harness, camera, a connect four hand held game and more...

I think it would be great if everyone who comes looking for these Hybrids bring with them a plastic shopping bag and "Cache In and Trash Out" leaving this great place a little nicer than you find it.

If you would like the coordinates for these boxes, or more info about geocaching, you can find them at Geocaching.com
Thank you and enjoy

Directions :

Diamond Hill Park can be found by taking 295 to exit 11 Cumberland exit and traveling North on 114. Stay on this road. you'll pass one intersection at Nate Whipple Hwy.Soon after that you'll see The Ice Cream Machine on your left and Diamond Hill across the street on your right.
Pull into parking lot, park somewhere behind the green building. After you've gotten out of your car and your ready to hike look for the white triangle. Stand facing the triangle, turn to your left. Head this way hopping over any obstacles in your way until you reach the edge of the asphalt and your looking at the water.Turn and walk in a northeasternly direction. You should have some giant beauties to your left and soon you'll see one that stands right out directly in front of you in the distance. Walk over to it and play on the practice mountian next to it for a moment. When your ready stand with your back against the tree facing the direction you came, take a compass bearing of 350 turn and and take 45 paces in that direction. You should see a couple of fire pits to your left and to your right the trail you want to follow. Follow this trail until you need to make a decision about which way to go next. If your a Patriots fan turn left if not turn right. The trail will begin to bend.At that point look to your right and you may see where S.O.S part one is hidden.

Now get back on the trail, begin to backtrack and pass the place you turned, (don't worry you're still a Patriots fan). Follow this trail and soon you'll be looking at open field again. Directly in front of you, but a little bit away, you'll see a cute little tree all by its lonesome.Go over and say hi. At this tree look around. Think about electricty and how it likes to take the path of least resistance. Now get that thought completely out off your head because we are not going to do what electricity does.oh no! Head toward the minature stone house with no roof. Continue up til you almost reach the fence and take the path on the right.

Follow this path a bit until you hear someone in your group (or head) say " oh man I wish I had a sled" Now pretend that you do have a sled and end up in the appropriate spot. Enter into the woods keeping left, just keep thinking left until you see in front of you a path bordered by evergreens. After you've entered that path you can start thinking right. Turn up the stone path and keep to the right again. At the pile of rust turn right again. Follow this path just a short while and look for the point on the trail when you see to your left a group of white birches. Two somewhat connected and the third not if you've found the right group of birches there will be on either side of them set back off the trail two clusters of large rocks. You want to go to the cluster on the right.
There you will find S.O.S. part two.

When your done if you continue on the trail in the same direction you were heading you'll get a great view as you come down from the hill. Keep your eyes open for a little bridge that crosses the water. After crossing this bridge you'll be in the parking lot a little further down from where you parked. Turn right and soon you'll see your car.
Thank you for helping and I hope you enjoyed your hike.
