Sentiments: A Series of Two Micro-boxes

“Blessed Journey” and “May Day Tidings”

This is my first attempt at planting micro-boxes. I wanted to see if I noticed any difference with micro-boxes staying put versus “the big boxes.”

The stamps in these two boxes are not hand-carved. However, any time I plant commercial stamps, I have never purchased them at a store and there is always a story behind them. These two are no exception. They were May Day Gifts from a graduating senior at my undergraduate alma mater.

Here is a description of the tradition:

“May Day Gifts

The night before May Day, seniors choose mementos to pass along to juniors, sophomores, and frosh. Some of these gifts have been passed down for a very long time. The tradition is such that, if the gift has been handed down more than once, you must hand it down again when you graduate. Gifts that you receive that have only been handed down once, you may keep.”

So these stamps were gifts that had only been handed down once and were hence mine to keep, but I have decided to share them with all of you.

These are both micro-boxes, with only a stamp and a log. If the box is a micro-box, than the log must be a nano-log. It is honestly the smallest log I have ever seen in a letterbox. You might want to come prepared to simply sign in, use a thumbprint or fingerprint, substitute a “mini” signature stamp for your usual one, or simply stamp in with a portion of your usual signature stamp. It is always up to you!

These boxes do not contain a Swallowdale token, because they are too small. To find out what a Swallowdale token is, please refer to the clues for “More or Less” in New Hope, PA. Please bring your own ink and writing implement, as these are not included in the boxes. Thank you! If you have any questions or concerns before you set out, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks!

Clues:

A microbus turret.

You’ll be looking for “Blessed Journey” first. The art will help to guide your way. From the burning bush, find the sunflowers, the garden tools and watering can, and the star flower. Go down the steps and proceed to the first tree on your left. Examine further. Please rehide extremely well. This is the “Blessed Journey” box.

-OR-

If you see different art, that’s okay, too. From the sweet gum, note the moon and the stars. The sun’s there, too. Pass the three-paneled scene of sun, water, and land, and note the sun. Is it rising or setting? Go through the columns near “Sunrise, Sunset,” and turn down the stairs to your left. Proceed to the first tree on your left and examine further. Please rehide very well. This is the “Blessed Journey” box.

From “Blessed Journey,” go down to flights of steps and locate the place where the asphalt either begins of ends. (Sunrise or sunset?) The artwork will be on your right. Head towards it, past the choke cherry tree, and up the stone stairs. Find the lion. When I was with him, he had a rose in his mouth. Look above him very carefully, to the left of the keystone in the arch.

Please try to disturb as little as possible when finding and replacing, but please also do make sure that you rehide very well. This is the “May Day Tidings” box.

Thanks for hunting for these! Please let me know of your find and of the status of the boxes. Thanks! (I am easily accessible on both LbNA and AtlasQuest.) Thanks again!!!
