THIS LETTERBOX IS MISSING for the 2nd time! Do not attempt to find.

A quick and easy letterbox. This is a HAND CARVED letterbox placed in celebration of our engagement a year ago today! Join me on the path I took, after a great scavenger hunt, to where my husband-to-be waited to propose.

I95 Exit 11 Darien. At the light at the end of the ramp, turn onto Route 1 (Boston Post Rd) towards Norwalk (if you're coming from Norwalk direction, this turn will be a right. If coming from Stamford, it'll be a left). Follow Rt.1 through downtown Darien, under RAILROAD. At 2nd light after RR take a LEFT onto MANSFIELD AVE. (Post Corner Pizza at corner- great stuff!). Make a quick left into a parking lot and park there near the 2-hour signs. FREE PARKING.

Walk further into the lot, it turns RIGHT, follow the sidewalk on the right side up the small hill. Near the top, you'll see a big stone on the right (don't go too far and hit the bank!), turn RIGHT there, and continue on the pathway through Tilley Woods (this is where you start to get butterflies in your tummy! Almost there!). At the T-intersection near the pond, turn LEFT. Pass the gazebo on your right. Continue to the lamp light on your left and turn left towards the rocky steps. Go up the steps to find a sundial in a garden dedicated to Elizabeth McCay. Walk in the direction of 2:00, stopping after 4 steps up. The path continues in front of you with trees down the hillside to your right. What you seek is hidden in the roots of a leaning sugar maple. Watch out for animal friends! Have a seat on the rocks and find a ring of your own! Platinum, too! ;)

Please stamp in and REHIDE WELL, remembering that this box has already been stolen once! On your walk back, take a stop in the gazebo. If it's a nice day, enjoy the swallows that nest there, the reflection of the water on the inner roof, and possibly some ducklings! Sit on the corner right ledge closest to the fountain. That's were he proposed a year ago (2/25/05) and where I got my ring. The wedding was in October of 2005.
I welcome any email regarding your hunt! Please record your findings on letterboxing.org and atlasquest.com. Congratulations and best wishes! :)
