From Barre center, (Routes 122, 32, and 62 all pass through Barre common)head south on South Street for 1/4 mile. The sanctuary parking lot will be on the left.

This box was placed on 30 October 2006 by YIMS, Lonemasswolf and little Cristina.

From the parking lot, walk through the grassy opening directly in front of the lot. Continue on a wide grassy path to the right into a grove of red pine. Bear left at the fork, follow the narrowing trail along the stone wall, continuing in a southerly direction. After about ten minutes, you should pass the remains of a large oak tree which was spared when the original woods were cleared for farming. Shortly after this tree, a side trail heads off to the right, continue along the main trail passing through a wet area on stone steps surrounded by red maples. In 6 to 7 minutes you will arrive at a small pond.

The gorge, and the waterfalls, can be viewed from exposed rocks on the northeast side of the dam.

After you have had your fill of the scenery, continue north on the main trail. This trail runs above and along Galloway Brook (on the left). Just a few feet up the trail from the pond, a side traill on the left leads down to the brook. This trail was closed to hiking on the day the box was hidden. At the head of this trail is a large pine, a rock, and a dead tree. The letterbox is hidden under the dead tree next to the rock and the pine.

Stamp in, be wary of other hikers, as this box is very close to the main trail. Rehide the box, and continue north along the main trail. As you head back towards the parking lot you will come upon a hollow tree large enough to stand in, just before a side trail leading to the right. Proceed along the main trail until you reach another fork. Take the right branch of the fork, passing next to a cleared field on the left. This will bring you back to the large grassy opening next to the parking lot.
