9/25/09 I found that the two-trunked tree has been cut down, so I've pulled the box until I can rework the clues.

For a more colorful stamped image, bring along sky blue, grass green, brown and pink markers.

Groundhog’s Day (February 2) is over and once again Punxsutawney Phil, “that Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, and Weather Prophet Extraordinary” has seen his shadow on Gobbler’s Knob and predicted six more weeks of winter. Meanwhile, Groundhog Mikey, who has grown sick of all the hoopla and being overshadowed by his older brother, has decided to leave Punxsutawney, PA and seek his fortune elsewhere. Remembering that I had family ties to Punxsutawney, Mikey decided to stop off in New Berlin, WI to visit with me. We spent several days seeing the usual tourist sights of Milwaukee: Miller Stadium, The Domes, and the Calatrava Art Museum.

Finally, looking for a quiet day together, we chose to take a short hike in Calhoun Park in New Berlin (located on Calhoun Road, south of Beloit road and north of Small Road. We parked in the south parking lot. Mikey jumped out of the car and began looking around. At the north end of the parking lot he counted ______(A) big boulders. Looking east he noted a landscape that he said reminded him of home in central Pennsylvania. From the southeast corner of the parking lot he spied a green sign at about 115 degrees and scampered over to read it(The sign seems to be missing for now). The sign said what can be done in this place (you might want to remember for some deep winter fun). Then Mikey turned northerly and headed to the playground. He bounced on the train a few times, then following its direction went to stand between two “tall towers”. From there he could see a “notch” in the landscape at about 40 degrees and he headed over to it. Standing in the notch, Mikey saw a bridge in the distance and decided to cross over it. At the north end of the bridge, he turned left and followed the edge of the pond, stopping to enjoy the view from the lookout. Continuing to follow the pond he made his way to the last bench to the west, read the memorial, noted the years _____ and _____, and sat down to add up the individual digits (B) and to take a short rest. Feeling refreshed, Mikey bounced up, returned to the bridge, crossed over and turned left. He scampered past the picnic area to the two signs at the end of the clearing: one that said “Recreation Trail” and the other “Trail” with an arrow pointing to the right. For a while the trail was slightly curvy with a gentle rise. Then it curved more sharply to the right, the grade increased and made a small series of “S” curves. Getting steeper the trail straightened out. About three-quarters of the way up the straight-a-way (with a curve to the right in the distance), Mikey found a two-trunked tree at the right edge of the trail (the “v” being very low to the ground). He stopped and panted to catch his breath. He made his way to the larger tree at about 80 degrees on the left side of the trail. From there he looked into the woods on that side of the trail and saw two large trees at about A + 4(B) degrees that were missing their tops. The closer tree had an “arm” pointing in a northerly direction with three limbs sticking straight up. Mikey thought this had potential as a new home and went bushwhacking over to it. Walking around the tree, he found a cozy hole, jumped in and settled down to take a nap. Meanwhile, I continued on up the hill following the trail, went to the left of the green box, walked past the trail signs, and continued on down the hill to my car.

After stamping, please rehide the box well. Thank you for visiting Punxsutawney Mikey.
