Strouds Run State Park
Difficulty: Fairly easy
Terrain: Fairly hilly
NOTE: IT WAS REQUESTED BY A FINDER TO WARN FOLKS
THAT THE TERRAIN AND DISTANCE SHOULD BE LISTED AS
MODERATELY EXERTING. DONE....BUT YOU CAN DO IT.
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, pen and
an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.
You might also want to pick up a walking
stick to swish in front of you on the narrow
trail to break open the cob webs. Bug repellant
might come in handy during the summer months.

From Athens head east on U.S. 50 and go 8/10
miles past the Super Eight motel just out of
town east. Turn left into the Dow Lake parking
area and drive straight ahead to the end of
the lot and park on the right. Go up the trail
ahead of you and slightly to the right to the
top of Dow Lake Dam. Enjoy the view across the
lake and then look to your right to the trail
going up the hill or walk to your right on the
right edge of the mowed area to the marked trail
head of the Lake trail and Indian Mound trail.
Go up the hill until you intersect both trails
and go right along the Indian Mound Trail. Stay
on this trail going around and up CCW until
you are on level ground and heading ~ 040* and
start looking for a small mound just on the
right side of the path. (I think this is the
Indian Mound but I'm not a connoisseur of
Indian Mounds). At this point, just to the
left of the trail is a dead three trunked
tree. The Indian Mound letterpouch is on
the backside of this tree in a hole filled
with limbs. Discretely do your stamping
and replace everything into the double
baggies and reseal them well to protect
the logbook since the pouch is not water
proof. Replace as found and continue on
the trail to "My Summer Letterboxing Shoes"
