Bring your own ink-- blue or gold recommended. I also recommend that you bring gloves for retrieving the box.
You will likely have to pay a small fee for parking on campus. Check the school's website for details on parking locations and costs.

While visiting the Southern California university where this box resides, you'll want to take a walk around (literally) and admire the architecture (including "futuristic" buildings that were used in the filming of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes) and landscaping (including over 30 types of eucalyptus).

Campus legend says that there's a spot in the park that bears not only the first chancellor's name, but his body as well. (There are actually two spots that bear his name quite near to each other-- you want the one that's higher up.) Stand atop this spot (don't worry, he's not really buried there... I think) and face the same direction that the chancellor's name does. You should see a narrow path through the plant life. Seventeen steps from the name will take you to the middle of this path. If you pass the metal boxes on the right, you've gone too far. The letterbox is on your left, hidden beneath the plants, with a large rock on top of it, and covered with pine needles. (Don't forget the gloves, or at least be careful-- trust me, these plants hurt.)

Please be discreet. Though this area is usually fairly quiet in spite of its location, it's still best to go during the weekend when fewer students are around. Plus, if you go on Saturday morning, you can walk to the shopping center across the street and enjoy the farmer's market. And, of course, please put the box back as you (hopefully) found it-- including covering it with the pine needles. Thanks!
