As of 04/08/2014 these boxes are temporarily unavailable!

Mutts is one of my favorite comic strips. I planted this series to be done after the Flamingo Caper Detectives. This set of clues is for those who already have the detectives from the Caper and just want the Mutts series. These directions are in reverse of the way you would find them after the other series. Only the last box has a logbook.
From downtown Leominster go up West Street and take a left onto Pond Street. Take a right off Pond Street onto Elm Street. Stay on Elm Street for quite awhile until you see a gate and sign on the right that says Parmenter Road. Park there, taking care not to block the gate.
Enter the trail and go straight. Walk along, stone walls will appear on either side of the trail. Watch for a large moss covered stump on the ground on the left side of the trail just after a good sized break in the stone wall. Enter that break and walk about 10 steps to the right to find Earl, the dog, nestled in the stone wall.
Continue along the trail. At a point where the trail curves to the right, there will be a trail that goes off to the left. Take that trail and walk about 20 steps to a rock on the right side of the trail. Behind that under some bark you will find Frank, one of Mooch’s owners. Return to the main trail and continue on.
Soon you will come to the intersection of 3 trails. Take the one to the left, Brook Road. Follow along to just before a crossover to Parmenter Road. Look off to the left for a tangle of downed trees. Bip & Bop, the squirrels are hiding in the root end of one of the trees.
Continue along Brook Road as it bends to the left and gently climbs uphill past interesting rocks and clearings. Eventually you will come to an area of new growth pines. Look to the left for a 5-ft. cut of log. Behind that, next to the stump, is Mooch, the cat.
Continue along, the trail will again go gently uphill. At a point after an uphill section and before a left curve in the trail, look to the left for a dead 3-sister tree with a log on the ground. In the center of that coppiced tree is Ozzie, Earl’s owner.
Stay on the trail as it winds along. You will see a large flat-faced rock on the left with lichen on one end. Look behind that for Millie, Mooch’s other owner.
Continue along and eventually you will come to a large split rock at the base of a pine tree on the left side of the trail. Behind that rock is Butchie, the owner of the Fatty Snax Deli. Be sure to stamp into the logbook and let me know who your favorite Mutts character is. Can you guess mine?
There is also another box planted behind this rock, Miss Marple, the final box of the Flamingo Caper series.
After finding all the Mutts boxes turn and go back the way you came to return to your car.
