Bucks Covered Bridge Series – #1 Schofield Ford Bridge

Updated 1/7/07--- new logbook an brand new stamp. Enjoy!

Park at the Schofield Ford Bridge parking lot in Tyler Park off of Swamp Road. Take the covered bridge trail down the log steps, over the stone bridge, all the way to the covered bridge. Take some time to read the history of the bridge on the rock sign at the left of the entrance of the bridge (hint: it will help you on your quest). Continue through the covered bridge and on your way gaze out the diamond-shaped windows at the beautiful view. At the other end of the bridge you’ll see three options: go left, right, or straight. Answer the question below to find out where to go next.

What year was the Schofield Bridge completely RE-constructed/ rededicated?
a. 1874 – Turn left
b. 1997 – Turn right
c. 1991 – Go straight

After you turn, answer the question below to figure out the number of paces to walk (note: a pace is every other footfall).

What year was the bridge originally completed? Take that number and subtract 1,824 (note: the number of paces was slightly changed on 6/19/07, those who could not find this box may want to try again with the new number!). Go approximately that many paces forward.

On the left of the path should be a large fallen tree. Go to the end of the tree that points towards the creek (watch for stickers), and the box should be waiting there. Good luck!
