This is the second of 4 letterbox hybrid caches to be place by the Geauga Park District for 2006. As Geauga County celebrates its bicentennial in 2006, the caches will have a historic theme and introduce you to the history of some of our parks. Both geocachers and letterboxers are invited to seek this cache.
NOTE: There is limited parking in the driveway. Take care pulling into and out of driveway. DO NOT BACK OUT! You can turn around up by the barn.
No night caching!
Read the historical stone and then follow the directions below to the cache. Building is not open. Sorry but the stamp and pad have disappeared! (6/06)
DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTERBOX/CACHE
Route 44* in South Newbury is your destination
To find the historic Union Chapel location.
On a large rock an interesting history will yield,
Famous speakers including Susan B. Anthony and President Garfield.
Not a church at all, but a nondenominational meeting space,
From woman’s sufferage to temperance, it was a free speech meeting place.
Right past the barn and bat condo you must proceed,
To the edge of a field with two rows of trees.
On one large cherry you will find,
A hole with the geocache inside.
A hitch hiker was placed in the hiding spot on 3/25/06.
This cache expires November 1st 2006.
*(Route 44, south of Pond Road, east side of the road)
A PERMIT IS REQUIRED BEFORE PLACING A LETTERBOX ON PARK PROPERTY.
