*** 7/4/08: This box was apparently removed by persons cleaning up the nature trail. Consider this box MISSING!! ***

This letterbox is hidden on the Pritchard Park Nature Trail (PPNT), which begins at the Chapel Hill Public Library.

The Chapel Hill Public Library is located at 100 Library Drive (off Estes Drive, near the intersection of Estes and E. Franklin Street). Visit the library's website (http://24.199.159.208/) for more information and directions.

Park at the end of the parking area's top row. From this corner of the parking lot, you will find a paved path heading away from the library. Follow this path for a short distance. The PPNT will branch off to the right.

Once you're on the PPNT, look for a sign on your left that says “Nature Trail Velma Road.” Just past this sign, the trail seems to fork around a giant pine tree. Keep right and stay on the PPNT.

Go around the bend, down a relatively steep hill, and up a small rise. You will pass a very gnarled tangle of trees and vines on your left. At the top of the rise, you will see a large cedar tree on your left just before the path veers sharply to the left.

At this cedar, take a reading of 280 degrees.

Walk in this direction off the PPNT about 20 steps. You will pass a skinny oak tree on your left and a double-trunked maple tree on your right.

You should see more or less in front of you a small maple tree with a small cedar tree directly behind it. You will find the letterbox between these two trees.

Please be discreet when stamping in and rehide the letterbox carefully when you're done!

You may continue to follow the trail in the direction in which you were headed; the PPNT loops back around to the bottom of the library's parking lot.
