A Few Of The Guys--Can You Guess Who They Are?

Location: Hocking Hills State Forest

Stamp: Handmade

Difficulty: Not hard but trail may be VERY muddy at times.

Bring: pen or pencil, compass and stamp pad.

One pace = 2 steps

Rappelling Parking Lot

Locate and park in the small gravel parking lot designated for the rockclimbing and rappelling area. To find this, locate Conkles Hollow which is on Big Pine Road and very near the intersection of Big Pine Road and St. Rt. 374. The gravel parking lot you are looking for is .7 miles northeast of the Conkles Hollow parking lot and it is on the north side of the road.

Clues

BOX #1: G&P

*Head for the north end of the parking lot.

*Find the Long Hollow and Orange Trail sign

*When given the option, take the Orange Trail to your left but before leaving the original trail, take note of the white 4-foot flexible plastic sign that says Horse Trail.

*Follow this new trail until you find the second flexible white trail sign. This second one says "Ohio Horseman's Council, Inc." (It will take you a few minutes to get there as you will be able to see where you parked along the way. I wanted to place these boxes out of parking lot view.)

*From the 2nd white flexible trail sign go 10 paces. You should see a skinny stump to your left. From there look for a multi-trunked tree at 230* about 8 paces or so away.

*G&P are hiding out in the middle where the one trunk broke away from the rest. Please rehide with plenty of leaves so the rock doesn't stand out too much.

BOX#2: PP

*Go back to the white sign and then continue further along the trail for 66 paces. You should be standing next to a tree with a white (round) blaze on it.

*Go 7 paces or so at 340* to a beech tree with a crocked elbow.

*Look in the split for this sneaky guy.

BOX # 3 TTT

*Go back to the tree with the white round blaze.

*Go 86 paces to a small tree immediately on the left of the trail with a white blaze on it.

*With your feet on the trail and your back to the tree go 12 paces at 10*. TTT is hiding on the low side of the base of that biggish tree under branches and leaves. Once you see who it is, it had to be a larger tree don't you think?

BOX#4: MRPNT

*Go back to the tree with the white blaze and count 40 more paces. You should be standing next to a tree with a large (round) yellow blaze on the right side of the trail.

*Standing at the cut end of the fallen tree next to the emblazened tree, look almost due N to a 6-7 foot large stump.

*MRPNT is hiding in the top under splintered pieces of wood and other debris.

***Please be sure to replace better than found so animals can't drag these away. Be sure to log your finds and happy hunting! :-) ~Trailtracker
