Rock Cr. is one of the Montana Blue Ribbon Trout Streams. It is located about 25 miles east of Missoula. Pack your lunch and drive up the creek for a fine time in the mountians. Rock Cr. road is paved about 12 miles, after that it's maintained during the summer but winter travel may be difficult. Watch for the Mountian Sheep, Moose, Elk, and Deer along the road.
The cable suspension bridge crosses the creek just below the Dalles camp ground. It is one of the trailheads to the Welcome Cr. Wilderness. Which extends West into the Saphire Mountians.
From the middle of the bridge you can look down the creek and see the LB. Cross to the west side of the bridge and continue north on the #225 trail. The trail passes on the lower side of a couple of the Montana state trees and then below a Granite cliff. It then climbs to a chest high boulder with a ring around the top. From the top of this boulder look to the water, under the center of three rocks in a row you can find this box.
If the trail turns you've gone to far.
Look for more!!!
Have a fun day.
