Directions: Park at the parking lot for the City of Santa Fe Open Space Trailhead, at the intersection of Cerro Gordo and Upper Canyon Rd. (Lot is open 7am to 7pm). Study the map in the parking lot. Your destination is near #31 on the map.
Clues: Walk to far end of parking area and enter Santa Fe Canyon Preserve through the green gate. Turn right at the first trail intersection, following the sign to Dale Ball trail and go through fence. Soon you will cross Upper Canyon Rd. and go through another green gate, following trail signs up hill. After climbing for about .7 of a mile, you will be on top of a saddle at trail junction #30. Continue on to junction #31. At this intersection, you will turn right and head west on the trail up the hill. Trail ends at a rock pile in .1 mile at the top of the hill. From this pile of pink rocks, sight a pine tree at 260 degrees, about 20 paces away. Letterbox is at base of tree, under a triangular rock. Enjoy the view!
