Walking through the Bear Creek Cemetery gate is like opening a window of history. The cemetery is the final resting place for many early Tarrant County pioneers. Many of them were Peters Colonists, as were Isham Crowley and his sons, Benjamin and Richard. The Crowleys obtained patents to adjoining properties and the area became known as the "Crowley Prairie." In 1853, as Major Ripley Arnold was vacating the camp known as Fort Worth, a small group formed a church located near Bear Creek, the present location of the cemetery. Isham Crowley donated some of his land for this church and cemetery.
Although the tree lined back portion of the cemetery is immediately adjacent to Bear Creek Golf Course and the sky is filled with airplanes from nearby DFW International Airport, this is a most peaceful area to sit and meditate, or to wander around absorbing the history. It is beautifully maintained by the Bear Creek Cemetery Association.
Located right in the hub of activity, yet nearly hidden from the hustle and bustle of today’s world, Bear Creek Cemetery is just one mile north of Airport Freeway (183) on the 360 frontage road in Euless. Going north on 360, exit on Harwood. Just after passing Harwood Drive, look for the sign on the left (east) directing you to the cemetery down an insignificant dirt road. There will be parking outside the gate.
The letterbox is hidden at the back of the cemetery, under some huge, ancient boulders, shaded by large oak trees on the bank of Bear Creek. A golf cart path runs leisurely along just on the opposite side of the creek.

Directions to Letterbox: As you approach the gate, be sure to stop and read the Texas Historical Marker on your right. Once you enter through the gate, take the gravel path straight ahead and pass between the two lampposts. At the T, go right. You will pass a little iron bed on your right. Keep going and soon the path will make a sharp curve to the left. Continue following the gravel path, once again making a sharp left turn until you come to a shady garden area with a concrete picnic table on your right. Have a seat at the table, and watch the golfers passing by in their carts just on the other side of the little creek bed. While sitting at the table, you will notice something amazing. There is a small cedar tree growing right out of the middle of a huge boulder! Go to the opposite side of this boulder and look underneath. The letterbox is hidden under a pile of rocks under the boulder.

Close by are Delaney's Vineyards, Catch the Wind, Allie's Duck, and the Duck, Duck Goose Letterboxes.
