These boxes are all postal letterboxes that I sent out as part of rings that have been returned to me: hence the name. As you stamp them into your book, see if you can guess what ring theme they were part of. The answers will be in the logbook, which will be in the last box. You may want to bring markers as some of them are quite colorful.

Be sure to bring bug repellent and to wear blaze orange during hunting season. This trail can get overgrown at times and there is poison ivy in places that you need to watch out for. Some trees have fallen across the trail, so you will have to go over, under and through.

I will rate the clues easy to moderate, but the trail is easy: about one mile round trip.

You want to find the Franklin Wildlife Management Area. It is on Plains Road off of Rt. 32. Coming from Willimantic, it will be in your left. Coming from Norwich, it will be on your right. Turn onto Plains Road and continue past the parking lot to the Management Area. Go past Under the Mountain Road on your left. As you pass a large field on your right, stop at the end. You will see a barway. You can either park here or drive down just a little bit to another barway with a larger pull off area and walk back.

Go through the barway and walk along the unmarked trail. Go straight through the DOT dump site. There is a small pine tree growing in the middle of the trail. From the last pile of asphalt on the left count 60 paces (left foot only) to the biggest tree around. Take a reading of 340* and spy a three sister tree. In its center will be Porky Pig.

Go back to the trail and continue on until you reach a Y. Take a reading of 10*. Behind this tree will be The Corn Flakes Rooster.

Now, you better take the high road, or your toes will get wet! Go as far as you can before the trail gets too overgrown (about half way down the hill). Take a reading of 290* and see two feuding sisters going their seperate ways. You will come between them and look among the high roots for Aquarius.

Go back the way you came. At the Y go right. When you see the kettlehole on your right, stop. Follow the deer trail up to the hole. The root end of a downed tree will point you in the right direction. Once there, you will see three stumps in the kettlehole. Stand in the center of the triangle and take a reading of 80* to see a stumpy fallen comrade. Under it you will find Chewbacca.

Go back to the trail and continue heading back to your car. Very quickly you will see a small mound on your right about 35' from the trail. In an old pail on the other side of this mound you will find Marvin the Martian.

Continue heading back. As you pass through the DOT area again, look for the 6 foot cement pipe on the right. In one end you will find The Scarab.

As you near the end of your search, you will come, once again, to the barway. Look directly across and spy an old stump. Look there for Force-less?, your last prize.

As always, please rehide boxes better than you found them.

Happy hunting!

I would like to thank Burning Feet for taking over this series.
