Can you guess what amimal I am? **MISSING**

Here are some clues:

My scientific name is peromyscus maniculatus. I am brownish grey, with a white belly. I have a pointed nose and large black beady eyes. I weigh about one-half ounce. I am about 5-8 inches long. I usually live for about 4 years, but sometimes I can live as long as 8 years. I live in wooded areas, and I spend most of my time on the ground, but I am a good climber too. I can run about 5 miles per hour. I have very sharp hearing and very good eyesight. I eat at night. I like nuts, seeds, fruit, mushrooms, berries, corn, grasses, and leaves. I live in a nest near the ground in a tree.

Now can you find me?

This letterbox can be found in Moon Park, in Moon Township, PA. If you are letterboxing with children, they will enjoy Moon Park. Once you are in Moon Park, you want to find the "Spring Beauty Nature Trail". The trail is located between a ballfield and rest rooms. The trail head is to the right of the ball field, and to the left of the stone rest rooms. There is a small parking lot at the trail head.
Go through the grass to the dirt trail. Go down the dirt trail. The trail will descend and curve. After the first curve (which is to the right), the trail will begin to level out. For a short distance the trail will almost go straight, and then begin to curve again to the right. Just as it begins to curve, stop. On your left is a tree that is about 3 feet from the trail. The tree looks like a "peace" sign, or a "V" for victory sign that you make with your fingers. One of the brances, or "fingers" is broken at the top. Once you recognize this tree, you need to go behind it. What you seek is nesting at the bottom of the tree.

If you are not sure which tree it is, look for a pile of logs. The tree is to the right of the logs. If you get to the "Y" in the trail, then you went too far.

You can return the way you came, but beware, that hill is a killer going back up! But good exercise! You can also return via a less strenuous route. If you continue past the tree, at the "Y", make a right. Continue on, and you will exit in a grass field. Walk up through the grass field, and you will be on the main road through the park, and you should easily recognize where you parked.

Note: You may recognize this trail, because I placed another letterbox, called "MOON" along this trail, but it has been missing since early spring, 2006.

Happy hunting! **Box reported missing 8-28-08**
