Yes, we actually have a STATE SOIL - Port Silt Loam, so designated in 1987 by our state legislature!
This letterbox is planted in one of our favorite spots in Oklahoma - McGee Creek State Park between Atoka and Antlers. This is a fabulous state park - terrific fishing, camping and hiking!
Clues:
Take state highway 3 east of Atoka about 18 miles then turn north to the State Park entrance. Drive through the park over the dam, past the entrance to "Buster Hight" campground to the "Potapo Campground" entrance. Just as you enter the road to the campground, there will be a portapotty on the left and the entrance to the "Potapo Trail" on your right. Park and start down the trail.
Approximately 1/4 mile down the trail, the trail takes a sharp turn right. Just before the turn there will be a huge tree on your right that starts as one, but becomes 2 at about 3 feet high. Take 35 paces off the trail at 90 degrees from this spot. You'll walk past a large boulder on your left then another. Just past these 4 foot high boulders will be 2 smaller boulders about 2' high. There is a natural hollow under the East corner of the second of these and the letterbox is in this hollow. Use a stick to probe for the box! There was a little poison ivy scattered around so beware this, too!
If you get to "Stop, Look, and Listen" you've missed the box.... but after finding the box, do take the entire 1.4 mile trail for a lovely walk on pine needles through the tall, tall pines!

Happy Questing!
