Peace...in Khmer (Cambodian)
Glastonbury, CT

NOTE: This adventure is about 1.25 miles long. Though unmarked, the trails are generally easy to walk, with some gentle hills here and there. It has long been a popular mountain biking site. You'll be exploring an area of forest in back of Case Mountain, which covers portions of Manchester and Glastonbury.

From the intersection of routes 83 and 94 in Glastonbury, drive east on rte 94 (Hebron Avenue) for 2.9 miles. As you drive up a slight hill, turn left onto Birch Mountain Road. From here, drive for 1.7 miles until you see a rather ugly steel gate on the left side of the road. Find a place to park in the clearing. There is room for a few cars.

From the rusted gate, spot a tree labelled "62". Walk southwest on a wide trail. Very soon you will cross a gas pipeline access area. Go past some rocky ledges as the trail begins to ascend for a short period. Shortly after this the trail leads downhill. You will pass a tree on the left that has fallen into a two-sister tree. After a few more moments, you'll come to a small clearing, featuring a campfire circle on the right. No time for s'mores, so keep going! Eventually you will approach a fork labelled "#64". Turn left and take 15 steps on the blue/white trail. Go to a 3-sister tree on the right. At 165 degrees, see a 3 ft high stump about 30 feet away. Go there. Look under the log next to the stump for the letterbox.
To return to your car, simply go back the way you came.

I hope you enjoyed this adventure! Spread the word!
