Peace...in Garifuna! (Belize and Honduras)
Glastonbury, CT
I just adopted this box planted by Josef (Tag You're It) Hopefully Joe will return to us and reclaim this box.
This can be done along with Peace in Bengali

NOTE: This adventure is about 1.25 miles long. It should take roughly between 45 minutes to an hour to complete your quest. This stretch of forest has long been a popular mountain biking site. You'll be exploring an area of woodland between Case Mountain and Gay City State Park, which covers portions of Bolton, Hebron and Glastonbury. Be aware that I think hunting is allowed here in season.

From the intersection of routes 83 and 94 in Glastonbury, drive east on rte 94 (Hebron Avenue) for 2.9 miles. As you drive up a slight hill, turn left onto Birch Mountain Road. From here, drive for 0.7 miles. Pull over as you pass a field on the right, near a "Speed Limit 35" sign. You can turn around and park on the side of Birch Mountain Road opposite the field. (The owners of the field posted no parking signs the day after I planted this box... oh well.) There is room for several cars.

Walk along the road and find a line of 8 stones. Standing at a tree labelled "60". look at 100 degrees. Follow the blue trail in that direction. Immediately you'll spot a round metallic sign informing you that you are on "CT State Land". Soon you will come to an intersection with a wide dirt road. Turn left here, continuing on the blue trail. Stroll downhill a short distance until you come to a trail entering from the right. Turn here and head in a southeast direction.

Watch for an old hut on the left. (It has/had bunk beds!) At the next junction, take the trail at 120 degrees. After a few minutes you will cross an open area (gas line). Continue on the trail for about 5 minutes until you come to a stone wall. Note: Shortly before the wall you'll pass a small pond/vernal pool on the left. Anyway, once you are at the wall, stop. Do not pass through the opening. Instead, take 16 steps at 5 degrees. Look for a triangular piece of brownstone on the wall. Underneath is your prize. Rehide carefully.
To return to your car, simply go back the way you came.

I hope you enjoyed this adventure! Spread the word!
