Take Watmough Head Road to the Watmough Bay Parking Lot. Walk down the tree tunnnel to the beach on Watmough Bay. On a clear day you will see Cypress Island, Fidalgo Island, and in the distance, Mt. Baker and Rainbow Ridge. Turn left and walk through the driftwood and gravel approximately 225ft. Take the trail through the wild roses and snowberry into the woods. Come to a very large old-growth western red cedar. The bark on this tree was stripped by native Sammish Indians as a fiber for making hats, capes and ropes. Walk past the cedar onto an uphill trail trending northeast. Arrive at a group of two large Doulgas fir trees. One is almost 4feet in diameter. Stand with the two fir trees on you left and turn right, toward the bay. Below the trees are two large angular boulders. Walk between the two boulders, below the one on your right. Watmough Bay Letterbox is on a small shelf at the base of the boulder on the right. This is our first letterbox and we hope you enjoy it and your visit to this special place. Cheers!
