REPLACED 20-Mar-11

Stone tower is a 48-foot tall field stone tower on the top of Burrill Hill. It was built in 1936 for fire observation. The tower had a wooden roofed structure constructed on its top to provide shelter for the crews that would man it.

There is 1 very steep and rocky hill which makes this not a stroller friendly walk.
From Lynnfield st. (Rt.129) To Greatwoods Rd. Eastern Entrance
From the entrance take the road on the left by the bulletin board. When you come to a fork in the road go left. This path will take you to stone tower. On the East side of the tower you will see a trail with a wall on the left side, leading away from the tower. Follow this trail to the corner of the wall and turn left. Walk along the wall to the next corner and turn left again. Approximately five feet from this corner there will be a space at ground level with a small rock wedged in. Remove this rock to find the Stone Tower letterbox. Make sure to replace the rock when you are finished.
If you go back to the path you came on and continue past the tower, the path will bring you to dungeon rock. Follow the signs.
