Peace...in Bengali! (Bangladesh)
Glastonbury, CT

NOTE: This adventure is about 1.25 miles long. It should take roughly 45 minutes to complete your quest. This area has long been a popular mountain biking site. You'll be exploring an area of woodland between Case Mountain and Gay City State Park, which covers portions of Bolton, Hebron and Glastonbury. This particular area seems to be in a state forest so be aware during hunting season. This letterbox search can easily be done in tandem with "Peace...in Garifuna" clues.

From the intersection of routes 83 and 94 in Glastonbury, drive east on rte 94 (Hebron Avenue) for 2.9 miles. As you drive up a slight hill, turn left onto Birch Mountain Road. From here, drive for 0.7 miles. Pull over as you pass a field on the right, near a "Speed Limit 35" sign. You will have to park on the opposite side of the road. There is room for several cars.

Walk along the road and find a line of 8 stones. Standing at a tree labelled "60". look at 100 degrees. Follow the blue trail in that direction. Immediately you'll spot a round metallic sign informing you that you are on "CT State Land". Soon you will come to an intersection with a wide dirt road. Turn left here, continuing on the blue trail. Stroll downhill a short distance until you come to a trail entering from the right. Turn here and head in a southeast direction.

Watch for an "open house" on the left. (It has a window seat.) At the next junction, take the trail at 180 degrees. After a few minutes you'll walk over a small wooden bridge. Then you'll hop stones across a stream bed. After a few more minutes you'll pass alongside a knee-high stone on the right. Watch for another stream (or seasonal moist area). STOP. See the large boulder on the right? From its northern point, take 11 steps at 22 degrees to a pair of stones. Nope, sorry, its not there. Take 4 or 5 more steps at 22 degrees to a pair of smaller rocks. Look between the stones by the little "wee" tree. Rehide carefully.
To return to your car, simply go back the way you came. However, if you'd like to explore a bit more, the trail winds its way around a rocky area towards a set of power lines...a very good place to see deer! If you are going to search for the "Peace...in Garifuna" box, go back to the last intersection and follow those clues.

I hope you enjoyed this adventure! Spread the word!
