Putnam Hill Park
Zanesville,Ohio

The famous Y-Bridge, located in Zanesville, Ohio carries U.S. Route 40 and Linden Avenue traffic over the Muskingum and Licking Rivers.
This bridge was opened in 1984 and is the 5th Y-Bridge to stand where these two rivers meet.
The 4th Y-Bridge was opened in 1902 and was of about the same design.
The 3rd Y-Bridge was built in 1832 and was a toll bridge for about 36 years. It was a covered wooden bridge as was the 2nd bridge, also a toll bridge(we are not sure what year it was built).
The 1st Y-bridge was a open wooden bridge built in 1814,and it too was a toll bridge .
Amelia Earhart called Zanesville "the most recognizable city in the country," referring to the Y Bridge’s usefulness as a navigational aid to pilots.
It is the only bridge in the US with three ends, over the Licking and Muskingum Rivers.
You'll find it fascinating as Ripley's Believe It Or Not proclaimed it to be "The only bridge in the world you can cross and still be on the same side of the river."

Directions:
To locate the “Famous Y- Bridge” letterbox you must journey to Zanesville, Ohio. From I-70, hang a left onto State Street south. Continue to Rt. 40 and hang another left. Turn right onto Pine Street and then left onto Grandview Ave. (Look for blue sign saying,”Y- bridge overlook”).From Maysville take rt.22 east to Pine st.
If you have children with you, right now you are probably hearing, “Can we go down the slide.”(Sorry). Drive into the parking lot of the Putnam Hill Park and find a place to park.

Clues: Do you see the wooden octagon? Stand in the center and find a bearing of 25°. Now,Take a 15 pace walk to the North Pole. From there take a bearing of 45 ° and 15 paces will take you to a pole of patriotism. Stand to read the Putnam Hill Park dedication plaque. Turn 180°; take 2 paces to the steel hand rail. What a beautiful view. To the left you can see the famous Y bridge of Zanesville. After enjoying the view, Take a bearing of 270°, walk 30 paces. There is no guardrail here, but there are posts. Counting the 1st, find the 18th. From here take a bearing of 220°. Walk 2 paces. Next, take 3 steps due North. Look between the base of the three trees under leaves is where you will find what you came for!
