Jacob's Ladder is a stair system that scales the side of the ravine in Truro's Victoria Park. This is a fabulous park situated right in Truro, and offers a variety of outdoor activities, including a swimming pool and about 20 km of trails. My father's family hails from here. I can remember climbing the ladder as a kid, when we would visit.

To find Victoria Park, take TC 102 and exit at Truro Heights Road (exit 13). Follow Truro Heights Rd E until you reach a T intersection with Willow St. Follow Willow to the left. Look for the Best Western Glengarry Inn. Turn right on Arthur st. You will also see small blue and white Victoria Park signs. Follow these. Turn right onto Park St.

To the Letterbox:

Follow the road into the parking lot and park close to the end, by the trail map sign. Head off on the trail towards the ravine ahead. Stay to your right. You'll soon pass a Hot Coals pit on your right side. Cross the bridge straight ahead, with the waterfall on your right. You'll soon come to and cross another bridge. Jacob's Ladder will be off to your right. Go to the base of the staircase, and take a deep breath! Then, up you go! All 106 or so steps! When you reach the first landing, take the boardwalk to your left. At the observation deck, you'll find a bench. Once seated and facing the ravine, look to your left. The sides of the staircase are composed of wooden 4 X 4s. at the end of the top 4 X 4, closest to the dirt, you'll find a neat little hollowed out area. Jacob's Ladder is nestled just inside, under some dirt and debris.

Please be very discreet when retrieving and rehiding the box. The box is completely invisible when in its hiding spot, so there is no need to push it in far; just ensure there is a covering of dirt/debris.

Once you stamp in you can retrace your steps, or continue climbing the remaining 69 or so steps to the top, and take the paved path back to your car.

If time permits, return to the ravine floor and continue on to The North Novas letterbox!

Please bring your own ink and pen.

Have fun, eh?
