This box has been maintained by Girl Scout Troop 308/512 for several years. We are now removing it because in 3 months the last of the girls will graduate from high school and move out of the area. Thank you to all who have visited (the last visitors were yesterday 2-6-09). It has been fun finding your notes.

Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area is located in Blue Springs, Missouri. From I-70 go North on Highway 7 and turn left at Park Road. Stay on Park Road until you reach the first parking lot on the left. Two trails are located here, enter the East end of Hickory Grove Trail.
Warning!! Poison Ivy around trail!
Bring compass and water.
1. Start on trail, you will cross several footbridges. You will end up at a steep incline.
2. Continue along trail until a service road crosses your path, go straight across.
3. After you pass by a pond the trail will split again. Go to the left and you will soon cross a bridge.
4. When the trail splits yet again go left.
5. Small rock outcrops (Bethany Falls formation limestone) will surround you further down the trail. Keep going.
6. The trail meets another service road, this time turn right. Go a short distance and turn left on the footbridge.
7. As you come across the meandering creek notice the bird house on the left on the Shagbark Hickory tree.
8. Stand midway on the trail between the large Shagbark Hickory tree and a Chinkapin Oak tree that is on the right side of the trail. Get a bearing on your compass of N59E.
9. Leave the trail and walk up hill about 50 paces, past the Chinkapin Oak tree, the Post Oak tree and near a third large oak tree you will find the box.
