Hello Kitty Series

Wickham Park is a non-profit, private foundation whose property extends into both Manchester and East Hartford, Connecticut. The park contains 250 acres of gardens, open fields, woodlands, ponds, picnic areas, sports facilities, and other attractions.

Wickham Park is located at 1329 West Middle Turnpike in Manchester, Connecticut and is easily accessible from Interstate 84.

From east or westbound Interstate 84, take Exit 60 (Manchester-East Hartford). The park is about 500 feet west of the exit. Look for the stone gatehouse that leads to hours of relaxation and recreation.

This park is worth packing a picnic lunch and spending the day. I also have The Monster at the End of this Series planted here and there are two other boxes planted at this park placed by Linda, look for Cloud dancing and Keeping Fit on the list of letter boxes.

Note 11-23-06 In response to an email I recently received, it's been brought to my attention that Wickham Park is closed for the season. There are other options for going into the park and walking around. You can drive past the enterance of the park and park on the first street on the right and walk up the giant hill...(great for sledding by the way.) or I have parked across the street in a visitor spot at the apartment complex before.

Hello Kitty Series only has one log book at the end now seeing as the one we had in Hello Rockstar kept getting water logged.

**Log book replaced on 10/08/2006

This series was created and planted, VBFairydust (look up her boxes if you are ever in the Virginia Beach area). Circumstances are keeping us from doing this together at this time, so this series has taken on a more privleged place in my heart. This series was planted with love and joy and created some of the best memories anyone could have! love you KATH!

When you arrive at Wickham Park, you will need to pay at the gate. After you pass through the gate you will need to park in Lot A, this is the first lot on the right.

**AS OF 5/28/06 HELLO MERMAID has been CATNAPPED** She is MIA. May HELLO MERMAID rest in peace.

**7/6/07 It's been reported that Harajuku Kitty is now missing also. I will not replace this box again as it does not seem to be a good spot. :(

**Update I NEED YOUR HELP!! It was reported in the log book the Hello Mermaid is NOT lost.."she is there under the bushes near the stump" is what was said. I looked and couldn't find her. Please if you find her put her in the box with Harajuku Kitty, and let me know. Kath and I will be so happy to know she is safe again. THANKS

Hello Mermaid can never be replaced. So we have created a sister to go in her spot. Harajuku Kitty is a tribute to Hello Mermaid. Gwen Stephani sings about the Harajuku girls of Japan in one of her songs. Only fitting she should be in the oriental gardens hey?

To find Harajuku Kitty:
Walk under the pagoda into the Oriental gardens. You will immediately encounter a gargoyle. Take the path going to the right. At your first fork continue going to the right. You will come to a row of bushes in front of a pond, continue going to the right. Follow this path with the pond on your left. (English Gardens will be on your right: worth a visit!) Pass a bench on your right, take a left toward a white bridge. On your left is a large tree labeled “Quercus Palustris/ Pin Oak”. There is a 4 stumped tree to the right, Hello Mermaid is hiding under one of the stumps that have been cut off. Please be sure to conceal her well again.

To find Hello Rock Star:

Proceed over the white bridge in front of you. Follow the path to a Y. Go to the left and up to the paved road. Cross over the road and walk toward the statue of a saint encircled in bushes. Behind there is a large bush and behind that is an alter. Approach the alter and follow the stepping stones to your left. You will pass 2 benches on your left. If you look to your right you will be able to vew the fountain in the garden next to the one you just passed through. Continue following stepping stones. You will pass a large cement bench on your right. Continue going up the steps, another set of steps will merge with yours. Turn right at the bottom of the stairway with rails. On your immediate left there are 2 trees close to the path with exposed roots. The second tree with two trunks is where you will find Hello Rock Star under a root hidden by rocks. Once again please conceal her well.

To find Hello Pilot:

Go back to the stairway with rails and head up. Continue on the stepping stones you will see a grass meadow on your left. (Point of reference only, not part of the clues, if you need to use the restrooms toward the top of the stepping stone path a dirt path will veer off to the right and you will find a water fountain and restrooms.) Continue on the stepping stones passing a curved cement bench on your right up to the paved road. Take a right onto the road and an almost immediate left into the parking lot. You will pass a map of the park on your right. Take the steps up on your left and walk toward the American flag on the lawn in front of the lodge. Walk across the grass on top of the hill. The Hartford skyline will be on your right, you can view it for a quarter with the viewer. Continue straight across the grass. If you go straight you will see a row of trees with an opening into a slightly wooded area. Walk toward the solitary bench. Sit on the bench facing the woods and relax if you want. From the bench walk directly toward the woods and turn left at the edge of the woods. You will pass a bush and a tree and then come to a row of trees. At the 5th tree, take a right into the woods. Go about 13 paces. Look for a tree with 2 trunks to your right, to the left of that tree is a group of 3 smaller trees. Hello Pilot is hiding under an old decaying stump at the bottom of one of these 3 trees.

Back to Lot A:

As you exit the woods continue out to the paved parking lot/road. Go to your right and you will pass a playground and an aviary on your right. As you head down the hill you will see parking lot A.
