Walk a mile..cliché?

Location: Great Seal State Park.
Difficulty: This climb will be one of the most difficult you will encounter in Ohio due to the steepness of the climb on up Sugarloaf Mountain, this box is not at the top but is perhaps halfway. See ‘Wonder Bread’ which is also on this trail at the top
Not handicap accessible.
Distance: About 1 trail miles one way if map legends are accurate.

You will park at the Ireland picnic shelter and find the trail head up the hill to the top of Sugarloaf mountain on past the disk golf course and a couple other boxes on this upward trail.

This trail meanders around away from the hill for a while before turning left after hole 4 and on past holes 5 of the golf baskets. Do not be confused by the messy tangle of trails that cross the early stages of your epic journey. Some of the trails seem to be used by horses as well as us adventurous heroes.

You will follow this trail as it wanders around on up to a sign that says ‘Park trail Ends”.

Continue leftward on past the sign until you see a yellow blaze on a medium maple on the left, you will find a large, damaged Maple about 21 paces further where the trail turns right.

From this Maple’s far side at about 20* and 7 paces, there will be a dead tree with Hickory-jack on the side (Shelf fungus).

You should align this dead tree in a line with a leaning Maple about 15 paces away. So you will count 7 paces to the dead tree, 4 paces to a live Maple and an additional 11 paces to the leaning Maple.

Walk a mile..cliché?, will be in a stump under 4 rocks and some rotten wood near the leaning tree. Fence remnants will be a few feet below you and is visible on a tree.

Skip on back to the car or head on up for Wonder Bread.
