My great grandfather was a piper in the MacIntyre Pipe Band which was formed in 1898 and lasted until the 1940's. This was a traditional highland bagpipe and drum band, still very popular in Cape Breton. The MacIntyre Pipe Band was comprised of my great grandfather, his brother and several of his brothers in laws. My family came to Cape Breton during the first half of the 1800's. This is my tribute to them. A good point to begin the Cabot Trail is in the lovely town of Baddeck. To find this box, you may want to visit the historic spot where the inventor of the telephone lived and worked. Once you've toured this spot chronicling his life, cross the street and find the small boardwalk. There are benches here during the summer so you can take in the view of the beautiful Bras d'Or lake. If you care to have a seat, I'd recommend the bench closest to the road. To find the box, look to your left. There's a small shore access, with piled stones and old building materials comprising the breakwater. Carefully step down, and face the road. Look for the old cement sidewalk slabs in the wall. The box is hidden undrneath. Carefully make your way back to the bench to stamp in, if you'd like. You might even hear a pipe tune!

Have fun, eh?
