Missouri Fiber Artists is a statewide organization of weavers, spinners, feltmakers, papermakers, quilters, surface designers, and much more. I created this box for our 2005 Retreat at Berger, MO. Those attending stamped (or stitched in). Our 2006 Conference was held at Central Methodist University in Fayette. Over the weekend I hid the box on campus for members to find. Now this box has been planted for all LBers to hunt.

Difficulty: The trail terrain is uneven, and a small amount of bushwhacking is required. In summer I highly recommend bug repellent, and mind the poison ivy!

This box has its own ink pad. A pace = two steps (right, left)

If you do some homework ahead of time, you can also hunt for a letterbox placed by Fox-fyr at Lick Creek CA.

From Columbia, take Hwy 63 north to Hwy 124. Take Hwy 124 west to Oak Grove Church Road (gravel) on your right. Follow signs to Lick Creek Conservation Area.

From the parking area, start your hunt at the boat ramp and take the trail clockwise around the lake. At the far end of the lake, the trail begins to turn southward and runs along the other side of the lake. Watch for a drainage with fallen logs at this turning area.

Go 24 paces past this turning area and the trail will ascend and then descend again. After another 25 paces, watch for a medium sized twin-trunked hickory tree on the right side of trail.

Go 15 more paces; the trail is beginning to descend again. Look to your left for the craggy stump of a large tree - a fallen portion in front of the stump, a large broken branch suspended in a nearby tree just beyond the craggy one. Bushwhack about 6 paces off the trail to this broken tree and look in the south end of the fallen portion that has been a favorite of woodpeckers. Your reward lies inside, covered by barkish bits of wood.

Hint: If you reach a drainage crossing the trail and the trail immediately begins a steep ascent, you are about 19 paces too far along the trail.

Please rehide the box well and return the way you came.
