This box went missing, probably due to heavy rains. I have elected to not replace it because I've moved out of the area. Thanks to everyone who hunted for it.

This box is hidden at Corey Hill Outlook in Brookline, MA. You can easily make it a drive-by; use the address 187 Summit Ave and your favorite mapping program to get to the park. However, I suggest that you get a detailed map of the area and do some walking through the neighborhoods around the park.

My suggestion: Park your car on Commonwealth Avenue near the intersection with Summit Avenue. If you want to take the T, take the Green Line’s B train to the Washington Ave. stop. (You can also get there by taking a C train to the Summit Ave. stop, which puts you at the corner of Summit Avenue and Beacon Street.)

From Commonwealth, hike southeast on Summit Ave. I do mean hike—you’ll be heading up a steep hill for close to half a mile. Along the way you’ll notice off to your right a house that helped inspire the stamp for this box (the house is on Lancaster Terrace). Keep your eyes open all the way up Summit Ave. for interesting-looking houses and great views of Boston and the western suburbs. As you reach the top of the hill, you’ll come upon Corey Hill Outlook.

To the right is a playground area. If you’ve packed a picnic lunch, there’s a table there where you can enjoy it. But the part of the park you’re aiming for is on your left.

Enter the park by a stepping-stone path between two stone benches.
Appreciate the view. Take a moment to rest on one of those benches after your hike up the hill.
Now stand on Five.
Look down the hill to a stand of trees directly in front of you. Walk straight down the hill to those trees.
When you get there, you’ll find that one of these oak trees is dead. (If you look ahead of you, the house that is directly across the street from the correct tree is brick with a white lattice trellis on the front. This is Jordan Road, for you map aficionados.)
Your treasure is at the base of the dead oak tree, on the Jordan Road side.
If you’re having trouble inching down the hill and reaching the box, try this:
Back up a few steps. See that tree off to your right with its branches lying on the ground? Just past it is a set of steps that will take you down to the street; head down that way, circle around to the street, and come up to the base of the tree. Use the house with the trellis to help you get your bearings.
The box is black, and is hidden among the roots beneath a pile of rocks. Please be careful when retrieving and replacing this box; this is a very exposed area and a very popular park. Please re-hide the box very well.
Note: You’ll probably find that there are very few people around if you attempt this box on a weekday morning.

After you’ve found the box, feel free to continue wandering the neighborhood, or to play on the playground, or to just sit and enjoy the overlook.

This is my very first letterbox planted; I would love to receive your feedback. Thanks for hunting!
