This is a tale of a squirrel and a skunk.
Being best of friends and living near each other, they always teased each other on who was the bravest. The squirrel, being afraid of even the shadow of his tail, was forever suffering the burden of the jokes.
One day Squirrel decided to get the upper hand and surprise his buddy, Skunk. He sneaked up quietly, hopping from tree limb to tree limb, and jumped down on to the rock next to where his cohort, Skunk, was sleeping. Uh oh! BIG mistake! (Skunks don't like being surprised!) Well, needless to say, Skunk did what skunks do when surprised and let out a big cloud of smelly stuff! Ugh! Squirrel got a face full!
Running sightlessly at first, scrubbing his eyes, and smelling like (you know what..) Squirrel ran down the path to his home. Skunk, realizing his smelly mistake, took after his woodland companion. "Wait, wait", Skunk
exclaimed, chasing after squirrel.
Squirrel was in no mood to 'wait'.he just wanted to get rid of the smell! ..Running blindly, Squirrel ran right pass his usual hiding spot, (ooops!).Passing the crossroads and on to the T. Squirrel went to his right, looking for a place to rid himself of the horrid odor and a place to hide.
Squirrel soon came to a triangle of moss covered rocks on the left. Rubbing his body on the first two, eager to get rid of the smell, he looked back and saw Skunk following behind. Quickly Squirrel hid behind the third, hoping
that Skunk would pass by ...
