Easy and Short

In north Raleigh is a nice little neighborhood park off Quail Hollow Drive. After parking your car, notice the covered tables where people play checkers or chess. Years ago a friend and I would meet here for lunch and a fast game of Scrabble.

After you pass the tables find a sidewalk next to a building leading into a wooded area and towards the pond. Stay on the path closest to the pond for a while until you come to a bridge leading to an observation deck.

There is a picnic shelter on your right. Take the most traveled path keeping the pond and the next picnic table on your left. Up the path a way another table will be on your right.

Eventually you'll come upon an area enclosed by a chain link fence. Just ahead of you is a clearing where you'll pause. At the fork in the path look to the right. In the distance you'll see a wooden fence. Off to the left you'll notice the path disappears under some very low hanging tree branches.

But if you look around you from that fork, you should notice a 'six' fingered tree. Held between the fingers at their base is the gate of the east. With your find go down the path and take a seat on a concrete wall.

When you've finished with the stamping and have placed the box back in it's hiding place (resealed tightly and hidden well), finish the walk under those low branches. You're in for a surprise and a mystery of sorts. Anyway idea what that's all about?

BTW: Take bug spray (mosquitoes) and watch for poision ivy. Don't forget to log your find!
