Neff Bat is the 2nd of 3 bat boxes placed in the central Texas area. It added to the collection of great boxes at Mother Neff State Park. This trail is a little narrow in some areas and uneven/rocky at times.

To get to the park, take I 35 and exit 315 to State Highway 107 which you will take west to Moody. After about 6 miles, turn left on State Highway 236 which will take you to the park entrance (on the right, about 2 miles down the road).

Stop at the headquarters to pay and get a park map.
Park at the 2nd or 3rd parking area, depending on how much hiking you want to do. (The wash pond or the area right before it).

Hike to the rock tower, climb up it and check things out. Leave the tower, go back down the trail, and when you come to the sign on the right for the buff loop trail, take it. Go until you see a rock "island" on your left. When you are lined up with the peak/start of it, go about 20 paces. You are looking for a triple trunk white oak (the center trunk is wider than the other 2) on the right. (It will be past the 2 trees to the right of the path that are leaning over the path). Look on the east side of the oak, at the base of the tree, under rocks, to find the Neff Bat letterbox.
Please replace rocks to hide and keep the box in place.

You can continue along the trail to get to the wash pond or to loop back to get to the 2nd parking area.
