Driving Directions to the Marshall Point Lighthouse and Museum, Harbor Dr and Lighthouse Rd,

• Coming from the south on U.S. #1:

After passing through the business district of Thomaston, turn right on Rte. 131 at the foot of the hill.

• Coming from the north on U.S. #1:

After passing through Rockland and then by the large cement plant on your left, turn left on Rte. 131 at the foot of the hill.

• From the intersection of Routes 1 and 131 it is 15.2 miles to Marshall Point.

At mile 5.4: Pass by the Rte. 73 intersection.

At mile 9.3: "Welcome II Tenants Harbor" sign on your right.

At mile 10.1: Rte. 131 bears left at the top of the hill.

At mile 14.5: Turn left off Rte. 131 at the blue Marshall Point directional sign.

At mile 14.7: Turn right on Marshall Point Rd.

Note: The last quarter mile is narrow and winding.

There is a large parking lot on the right just before entering the lighthouse grounds.
Park in the lot and wander around the beautiful grounds. Look at the variety of granite benches, each a memorial to a beloved person or couple, scattered around the edges of the rocks. Find Walter and Lillian's bench. If you sit on their bench and face the sea, there are large rocks at your feet. Underneath you will find the Marshall Point Letterbox.

The grounds of the museum are open dawn to dusk. The museum itself has limited hours. If you are lucky enough to go inside, please ask about the lighthouse dog, and find out about the feature of this lighthouse in a famous Hollywood film! Take lots of photographs, but better yet, bring a few blank postcards and use the letterbox stamp to send friends a nice souvenir postcard from this little piece of Maine.
