Summer Sun LbNA # 22960
|Placed Date||Jun 13 2006|

DIFFICULTY: easy (at Lakeside Park)
VISIBILITY: usually low, potentially high
EXTRA TIPS: Lakeside Park has a small-ish playground, good for a short visit, and a picnic table with trash can, so you may want to include a picnic with your visit. The lake is stocked for fishing, so that is another option, and there are usually ducks and geese around, too.
Summer Sun is located in Nacogdoches, Texas, at Lakeside Park, which is at the north end of town, off 59 North. Turn on Old Line Road (near a car wash) and then turn right on Pearl Street and you will be at the park. There is no parking lot -- just park by the curb.
You will need to walk all the way around to the other side of the lake (it is small, don't worry!). At a triple trunk tree, head into the woods, just a few feet. It is mostly bamboo and easy to get through. When you get in the woods just a bit, look to the left and you'll see a 4-trunk tree (beech, I think?). The box is in the middle of the four trunks, buried under sticks and stuff. Use caution and gloves and a stick as you search for the box. : ) I saw a BIG snake in these woods in March, so please stay aware.
The logbook is kind of small, so if you have a small version of your stamp, you may want to bring it along.
Thanks for looking!
