Location: Cacapon State Park

Background: Planted on an overnight camping trip/ letterboxing adventure w/ Koyote.

History: Cacapon was derived from the Shawnee Indian name Cape-cape-de-hon, meaning "river of medicine water." It refers to the areas renowned medicinal waters, which have been acclaimed throughout history for their healing powers. These waters come to the surface approximately ten miles from Cacapon at the nearby Berkeley Springs State Park. These waters flow through the park, and many of the trails in this park were roamed by the native indians as they serched for food.

Clues:
Go to the lodge, and get a trail map. Note the location of the numerous trails the park has to offer. If time allowed, I would have explored many more. Find the Ridge Trail, and park in the lot near the BathHouse, and beach.
Head to the left (behind) the BathHouse, and the beach will be on your right.....soon you will see the yellow blazed trail on your left that follows a stream. Take it.
Very soon the trail will get rocky, and start to climb quite a bit, and turn left. Soon you will see a large boulder 10 feet off the trail on your left, and a 6-8 foot tall stump just off the trail on the right. From here, go back down the trail 10 steps, and on the same side as the large boulder, you will see 2 medium trees with a 2 foot rock in between them, about 10 feet off the trail. Walk 15 steps up the ridge, between these 2 trees. From there walk 5 steps to the left, to the base of on old fallen tree, and close to where 3 tall trees kinda lean on each other way up high. At the base of the fallen tree, under some sticks and debris..you will find "The Guardians on the Tribe"....one guards during the day, one guards during the night.

***Make sure to use caution..this park is know for snakes, and the rocks beg for rattlesnakes.....poke carefully!****

Continue the hike for other boxes, and to see GREAT views along a narrow ridge with views in both directions.
