**NOTE** The box is still there, but an animal has gotten into it. Anyone going to the site who could bring a strong baggie and repair the box would be greatly appreciated!

Enter the Skyline Drive from 211 at Thortons Gap, and head south. Continue past the vacant Panorama restaurant to about mile marker 36+. Follow signs to Pinnacles Picnic Area. Lucky you! There is a Lu!

Parking in front of there, across from the covered parking, you will see a sign that says Appalachian Trail. Head South (if you are facing the bathroom it will be left). You'll walk a short ways up to a rocky peak. Once you begin to head downward, notice the sort of clearing on your left and a few burnt out trees. When you look carefully you will notice one mighty oak stands almost alone. He is massive! As you make your way closer you will notice he has a growth? a nose? Stop directly in front of him and think about what that could be(it's about 15 ft up on the tree). As you stand there, facing the tree, at about 1:00 you will notice another largish oak (not nearly as mighty as Mr. Durante)but beyond it...just behind it...

is a grey 1/2 tree that looks like a twisted tornado, or perhaps a Georgia O'Keefe painting. The base of this twisted hollow contains the box. Good luck!

Once you find the box, we found the tree makes a rather interesting percussion instrument!
