RE- PLANT AN HERB GARDEN
Box Number 1, DILL had been reported missing Oct.3 2006 and is now [ July 3 2007 ] found and in good shape reported by BirdStamper . Thank you .
The ‘Plant an Herb Garden ‘at Northwest Park in Windsor Ct., has now been relocated do to renovation of the garden and animal pasture.
The stamps are the same but they are located now on the Yellow Wetland Forest Trail

Directions : Find Northwest Park on 145 Lang Road in Windsor Ct. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day hunting the many boxes within the park . Visit the Nature Center , the museum and the adorable animals in the barn and pasture. You may pick up a map in the Nature center.
To find the re-planted Herb Garden begin at the Butterfly Board ,go south to the paved road. Turn right and at the signs where the pavement ends continue straight to the "T" and more signs. Now go left and at the next sign post [ almost immediataly ] take a reading of 345 degrees to two trees close together, 25 feet off trail, up a small hummock . Between these trees under a cylindrical piece of concrete you will find Dill. Please take time to cover and hide the box well.
Now for the rest of the Herb Garden Boxes, explore the Yellow Wetland Forest Trail as it goes north [right] This is the trail where the Herb Garden is planted. Stop as you come to the information post at the Grey Birch on the right side of the trail. Look on the left side of the trail opposite the grey birch to a large tree and find BAY hiding behind it .
Continue on the trail and soon come to the Dr. Gordon Taylor Boardwalk overlook. Here you might enjoy taking a peek and may see some interesting things. Then continue along on the yellow trail to the marker teaching about the Eastern Hemlock. Count about about 21 steps depending on how big you step !! along on the trail and pass by a group of Beech 4 sister trees on the left and stop at the NEXT Hemlock tree on the left. Look carefully inside for LAVENDER. Please hide and cover well.
Continue along and soon cross a woods road. Look for the small post with the number 5 . Count along the trail for 35 more steps and notice on the left a small birch stump and a downed tree, and take 5 more steps along on the trail and look right to a large downed birch tree just off trail . In it’s roots is SWEET BASIL
Now continue to cross several board bridges and come to a ‘Real Bridge’ . Cross the Bridge and bear right , now leaving the Yellow Trail . Half way up the little hill notice two large trees on the right. One has an Orange Blaze on it. Here is where you will find ROSEMARY. There are some poison Ivy plants here so be careful. Please cover this box well
Fast Track back to your car. :::
Continue to the top of the little hill and bear right out to a field. Keep the woods on your left as you follow the path out to the barn and turn right onto the park road and back to the Nature Center.
Hope you had fun .
