Status of Letterbox: Alive and Well on 12/28/08
The "Gas Chamber"letterbox is located in the neighborhood of Coles Crossing, just of Barker Cypress and Hwy 290, at the nature trail across the street from the community center. Their is a nice park here, with soccer fields and a long path for hiking and jogging, as well as children's playground.
Directions:
Going toward Austin on Hwy 290, exit Barker Cypress. Go right on Barker Cypress, through light at Jarvis, and take 1st right into parking area for Coles Crossing Community Center, and park at far end of lot.
To the Mini-box:
Walk past the swimming pool, across grass on dirt trail, to the street of Jarvis. Across the street and to the left is the nature trail in the trees (you may be able to see the signs). Cross over and go left until you enter the green gate. At "Caution" sign, go left on the loop trail. Continue past the telephone pole on the left of trail, until a trail junction. Go right and count 85 steps. Stop. Go right into brush for 10 steps to a 4 foot dead log. The box is on the back side of this log, near the stump base. It is under edge, with bark covering it. Please re-hide it well, and be cautions of snakes!!!
