If you love to go on winery tours, or have never gone wine-tasting before, try going to ColumbiaGorgeWine.com where you will find detailed information about it, along with information about specific wineries located around the Gorge. I've placed boxes at 4 of them, near the west end of the Gorge. The drive is enjoyable, the views of the Gorge and the mountains beautiful, and the wine varieties abundant. Many wineries have beautiful grounds and a day trip wine-tasting is well-worth taking a camera. Some wineries are adults-only, so please be respectful of this.

One of the four boxes I placed has a bonus stamp in it, that measures 5 x 5 3/8 inches. OK, I know, it's a bit big, but it was enjoyable carving it. Bring appropriate sized paper for stamping.

Wind River Cellars is open 10-6 daily. 196 Spring Creek Road, Husum WA. www.windrivercellars.com. From Hood River/White Salmon toll bridge (75 cts): Turn left onto Hwy 14 headed west for 1 mile. Take a right onto ALT 141, following the signs to Mt. Adams/Trout Lake. Turn left onto Hwy 141. Continue north for about 6 miles. Left onto Spring Creek Road for 2 miles.

Clue: Come into the winery tasting room and ask to stand in the location that offers the best view.

Now ask to see the letter box.

Enjoy!
