Hole 'n' the Rock History: The home's builders, Albert and Gladys Christensen built this historic 5,000 square foot home and unusual gift shop right out of the native Estrada (Navajo sand stone). Travelers along U.S. Highway 191 south of Moab, Utah are amazed to discover this unique tourist attraction. Inside are fourteen fabulous rooms arranged around huge pillars. A fireplace with a 65 foot chimney drilled through solid sandstone and a bathtub built into the rock are among the attractions. Over a 12-year period Albert excavated 50,000 cubic feet of sandstone. When Albert died in 1957, the home was not complete. Gladys, in keeping with his wishes and lifelong dreams, continued to develop the home and gift shop into the world-renowned attraction it is today. When Gladys passed away in 1974 she was laid to rest next to Albert in a small cove within the rock near the home. The simple stone markers were sculpted by Gladys.

Clues: Hole N" The Rock Home is 12 miles south of Moab, Utah on U.S. Highway 191. On the north side of the attraction is a park with a lot of trees and grass (and picnic facilities). It is a perfect place for kids to play on a hot day! From the parking lot, walk across the park to the picnic pavilion on the southwest corner of the park. From the southernmost table (facing the Hole 'n' the Rock) turn to 250 degrees and take about 21 kid steps to the huge cottonwood tree that has two trunks that meet at about a kid's head hight. In the crook of the trunks you will find Child's Play! Oh, bring an adult, it has a child-proof lid. Have fun! Pure Joy (age 6).

Thanks for rehiding it carefully!
