On August 12, 1978 the Double Eagle II dirigible, piloted by Ben Abruzzo, Maxie Anderson, and Larry Newman, left Northern Maine and 137 hours and 6 minutes later became the first balloon to cross the Atlantic Ocean when it landed near Miserey, France. The flight, the fourteenth known attempt, was the culmination of more than a century of attempts to cross the Atlantic Ocean by balloon.
Find the launch site of the Double Eagle II. In one of the large shrubs in front of the monument commemorating the launch, you will find this letterbox. Enjoy the scenery of the memorial park, and be careful not to damage the shrubs when searching for/rehiding the letterbox.
