IN GOOD CONDITION AS OF AUGUST 7, 2009
My family has traveled to Holden Beach each summer since the late 1980s. One summer my cousins and I found a dead crab on the beach. We buried her, marked her grave with a shell, and posted a sign that read "Here Lies Myrtle." But she came back... as MOITLE THE ZOMBIE CRAB! Moitle's exploits were chronicled in comic strip form, and later a series of comic books.
Travel to Holden Beach, cross over the bridge, and turn toward the west end of the island. As you approach the 800 block of Ocean Blvd West, you will see public parking on the right. Cross the road, following the signs to the public beach access, between 799 and 803 Ocean Blvd. Walk alongside the boardwalk to the beach. Count the large railing posts on the left--the letterbox is under the 9th post. IT'S NOT NECESSARY TO BE ON THE DUNES TO FIND THIS BOX. Please rehide carefully.
