****confirmed missing**** (washed out in flood 1/27/2007).

This is our first 'hide'. It should be good for families and young children. After the find, you can go straight to return to the start. Near Tom Brown. We'd appreciate it if you sent one of the postcards. Thanks!

Although we had permission to hide, the box was missing. We replaced it today, using our first carved stamp (it's supposed to be a goat). 8/26/06

Still there 9/4/06. Adding alternate clue...

CLUE # 1
"Where Park turns into Conner
And Fireworks fly o'er the lake,
A little neighborhood park
Hides something you can take.

Off Connor runs a street
Of legacy and tradition.
Up hill you go, across the wheel,
Now down to start your mission.

Where neighbors meet to nature see,
Signage greets you, sends you round.
Time for a picnic? Time for a hike?
Time for you to s'plore the play ground!

See the fire truck? See the plane?
Go and stand between the two.
Nature makes such varied art,
Tree branches frame your view.

Look towards the plane, and thirty degrees.
On your left you'll surely see,
By the distant wooden fence
A trailhead sign thru the Tree-V.

Forward you go 'neath the canopy dense.
Start down the trail, come to a split.
Difficult Trail or Easy Path?
Today's not the day for having a fit!

Lazy Day! Walk along and count the gems.
See the diamonds? One, two, three.
Glance around and maybe you'll see
What I call the 'Grandpa Tree'.

Grandma's next, with drooping arms.
Further down, and on the right
A six foot arch among the trees.
The diamond four is within your sight.

The path below to cobblestones turns.
Do you remember, from times of leisure,
Who hides beneath the bridge?
Does a troll protect your treasure?

Best beware. Who knows what lurks there..."

ALTERNATE CLUE #2
"Find the playground at Layfette Heritage Trail Park. Walk to 15 minute parking area away from restrooms. From that trailhead marker, go about 170 steps down the 'road'. You will see an overgrown cobblestone 'road' going to the right (before the rubber matted hump). Go about 55 steps (or paces) down this overgrown cobblestoned 'road' path to a small footbridge. Look for the troll and you might find a letterbox - in a bag."
