September 10, 2010 Replaced thanks to Blackvelvetrav & Lizman!!
Directions: From I-84 in Mountain Home, take Exit 95 and head east along State Highway 20 until you reach Goodale’s Cutoff historical marker on the north side of the road between mile markers 124 and 125. This letterbox is about 15-20 miles east of Mountain Home.
Description: Driveby.
Clues: In 1862 Timothy Goodale led his emigrant wagons along this route to avoid Indian hostility along the Oregon Trail. Unfortunately, when he reached a mile high, he got a flat so had to fix it before continuing. In between Castle Rock and Goodale's Cutoff, Timothy walked 55 paces/110 steps to the right in search of help. He sat on the large flat boulder with a little one in front. Between the 2, he spotted a small flat rock covering what he needed to continue his journey.
